Tess: Mom, why do you have mustard on your cheek?
Me: Well... because the doctor had to cut into my jaw bone and now I have owie's.
Tess: Can you taste the mustard in your throat?
Last week I had jaw surgery to do a bone graft as well as extract another tooth. Silly me thought the recovery would be like losing a tooth! Two to Three days recovery tops and then back to normal. Not quite. Although talking hurts, I still look a little icky, and I'm poppin Advil like candy I am well on the way to getting back to normal.
About 3 weeks ago my mom surprised me with a phone call to say she was coming out to help! Needless to say I cried when she told me. Mom and Dad are still serving a mission so this wasn't as simple as booking a plane ticket. I can't explain how much it meant to me to have my mom come. No one understands or comforts me like my mama when it comes to my dental issues.
Our ward primary sacrament program was this last Sunday. I really really really didn't want to miss it! Jake worked so hard to memorize his part and Tess, is just too cute to miss. So, I used all the energy I had to get ready Sunday morning ( trying to disguise my huge bruised face with my hair the best I could!) while mom took care of the kids. Once we got in the car I felt nauseous and dizzzy. I had to rest in the car while mom took the kids into sacrament meeting. After 20 minutes I headed in slowly. I enjoyed the program while resting my head on Dan's shoulder and mom held Abby, since Dan is in the bishopric this was a real treat!! Jake didn't hesitate one bit when he got up and with a huge grin he ACED his scripture. Tess's class performed the First Article of Faith. Tess was funny to watch. During the songs she watched her friend next to her, her nails, the ceiling rather than the chorister. After the closing song I quickly got up to head out to the car and just about lost it in the back of the chapel...Dan seriously caught me on the way out! I wobbled like I was drunk...well, I was on percocet. I wasn't quite up to chatting or walking for that matter! Glad we sat towards the back! Although I know there were plenty who enjoyed the show! :)
Here is Abby's latest trick...
Confidently WALKING and yes he has discovered how to take her pants and diaper off.
The other day, completely out of the middle of no where, Tess asked Dan and I if we knew what Sally, her stuffed doggy, wanted to be for Halloween? Dan quickly asked "a cat?" Nope. Tess informed us that Sally wanted to be " a pig! Cause she loves pigs!" She keeps me smiling, even when it hurts!
